No matter how old you are you must have fluids and when you are in a warm part of the world then a good intake is essential. Drinking fluids is paramount in keeping the body hydrated and today there is an enormous selection for you to choose from.

But for me the choice is simple…it has to be Kinnie. Whenever I think of Malta I immediately think of Kinnie. I was introduced to it way back in 1985 when I first came to the island with the family on holiday.

Malta was everything that you could hope for. Hot, sunny days, easy pace of life, beautiful scenery, friendly Maltese, delicious food and some very interesting places to visit. But keeping hydrated must not be neglected.

You can only drink so much water or soft fizzy drinks before you have had enough. On a hot day tea or coffee simply did not appeal. Then I was asked if I had tried Kinnie, a soft drink that was made on the island. I have loved it from first sip. More to the point it was very refreshing.

Over the years I have tried to describe it to people asking me about Kinnie but have never been sure if I have done it justice. I found the easiest thing is to simply say, try it and see if you like it. For me the slight tang from the oranges combined with the herbs gives Kinnie a refreshingly clean taste. It is gentle yet you can taste the bright freshness of the ingredients,

So whether you are 4 years old or 104 years young join me in raising our glasses and saying, “Here’s to you, Malta, and thank you for your wonderful, delicious Kinnie!”
