Summer has arrived early this year in Malta, and most of us are already enjoying the sun and beaches. Summer is also a time to party and enjoy long evenings out with friends and great music. For the 4th consecutive year, Malta will be hosting a music festival. Kicking off on the 22nd June, the music week is full of activities throughout Malta and Gozo. The week includes various clubbing activities and open air concerts.
The first day will be held at Gianpula, one of Malta’s open air clubs, as part of their G7 Friday events, where one can get ready to party and dance the night away. On Saturday, the 23rd June we all head off to Xlendi Valley in Gozo to experience the open air club called ‘Grotta’, which is spectecular to see. The Miami Herald called ‘Grotta’ as “one of the most beautiful discos in the world”.
We move back to Malta on Sunday to enjoy a live street concert in Bugibba square, a tourist destination in the north of the island. The live concert will include a fusion of pop and rock music and will see a number of new and upcoming bands, whom we hope will one day become successful. These events all lead to the highlight of the music week, the Isle of MTV, a free concert held on Tuesday 26th June at the Granaries in Floriana, attracting fans from all around Europe. Amongst some of the most famous artists, this year will feature Flo Rida, a Miami based rapper, Nelly Furtado singer – songwriter and producer, will.i.am a seven time grammy award winner, as well as Eva Simons, well known amongst fans of Electronic Dance Music.
For those who want to carry on partying, the evening will follow with an after concert party at Numero Uno in Ta’ Qali. The music week will close off on the 28th June at Gianpula once again featuring Steve Angello. Steve Angello is a Greek-Swedish DJ, producer, and record label owner who forms part of the Swedish House Mafia, a popular House Band.
